PETER LYNCH

A life shaped by travel, kindness, and the quiet wisdom of nature

Peter Lynch was born in Sydney, Australia, and began his professional life as a schoolteacher. Yet it was beyond classrooms that his deepest education took place. In the late 1970s, Peter travelled overland from London to Sydney, mainly hitchhiking and using local transport, discovering generosity and kindness in every country along the way.

Arriving in Darwin with no money, he lived in a tree for six months while working as a gardener, completing the journey through resilience and trust. After returning to Britain, Peter spent a year teaching English in Cairo, Egypt, before settling back in London, where he lived for seven years in a van beneath the trees of the city.

It was during this time that Peter taught himself to paint and began receiving the poetry that would later become Nature Speaks. His artwork has been sold at Camden Market and exhibited through charities supporting homeless artists. A lifelong advocate for compassion, Peter donates all royalties from Nature Speaks to IFAW, supporting the protection of animals and the environment.
